Puerto Rico beyond Old San Juan is a stunning. From mystical waterfalls, some of the most unique beaches, and rigid mountain landscapes, Puerto Rico exceeded my expectations and is now one of my favorite countries I have travelled to!

Location of Photo: 📍Survivors Beach, Maleza Baja, Puerto Rico
A local in Aguadilla had recommended this beach to me so I had to check it out! In order to get to Survivors Beach you will arrive at Surfers Beach and take the 30 minute hiking trail to this hidden gem. Be aware that this is an unmarked trail so go before sunset, and bring lots of water!
Since this beach takes some effort to get to, in return you'll be rewarded with stunning views of boulders along side the shore and you don't have to worry about crowding which makes this place so much more majestical!
There isn't much shade from trees but there are shady areas to relax under the boulders, so you can plan a few enjoyable hours here or maybe even the day.

Love Waterfalls?
If you're like me and you love waterfalls, San Sebastian is basically heaven. You can find some stunning waterfalls at Gozalandia where you can relax, reconnect with nature, and even cliff jump into the falls!
There are two waterfalls here, which are a short 14 minute walk apart from each-other on a cemented path along the river.
I only had a few hours here but wished I had planned a full day because of its beauty!
There is also a $10 parking fee at the falls so bring cash!
Puerto Rico also has a wide variety of cuisines so don't miss out on tostadas and tea refreshers!

El Yunque National Park
If you're down to get muddy and enjoy some natural water slides then visiting El Yunque National Park should be on your list. There is so much nature and history in the park as well, just don't hesitate to ask all about it to the amazing tour guides!

Pretty in Pink
In the town Cabo Rojo you can find one of the most unique experiences that I have had. A pink salt flat! These cotton candy salt flats made me feel like I was in a dream, they are so beautiful and if you are looking for excursions on a budget, this activity is open to the public!
I will also recommend to continue driving after the flats towards the lighthouse that is visible from the salt flats. From there you can walk to the top to the most stunning views and baby blue beach.
Planning a trip to Puerto Rico soon? Add these places to that list and have a once and a life time experience!
